Tubes filled with amniotic fluid for Amniocentesis
The amniotic fluid is the protective liquid contained by the amniotic sac of a gravid amniote. This fluid serves as a cushion for the growing fetus, but also serves to facilitate the exchange of nutrients, water, and biochemical products between mother and fetus.
For humans, the amniotic fluid is commonly called water or waters (Latin liquor amnii).

Amnioticfluid index (AFI) is a quantitative estimate of amnioticfluid and an indicator of fetal well-being. It is a separate measurement from the biophysical...
An amnioticfluid embolism (AFE) is a life-threatening childbirth (obstetric) emergency in which amnioticfluid enters the blood stream of the mother,...
fluid within the amnion is called amnioticfluid, and because this fluid surrounds the developing fetus, it contains fetal cells. The amnioticfluid is...
inner of these membranes, the amnion, encloses the amniotic cavity, containing the amnioticfluid and the embryo. The outer membrane, the chorion, contains...
an excess of amnioticfluid in the amniotic sac. It is seen in about 1% of pregnancies. It is typically diagnosed when the amnioticfluid index (AFI) is...
Amniotic stem cells are the mixture of stem cells that can be obtained from the amnioticfluid as well as the amniotic membrane. They can develop into...

is breakage of the amniotic sac before the onset of labour. Women usually experience a painless gush or a steady leakage of fluid from the vagina. Complications...
embryos when they first form. It fills with amnioticfluid, which causes the amnion to expand and become the amniotic sac that provides a protective environment...
fern test is most commonly used to provide evidence of the presence of amnioticfluid and is used in obstetrics to detect preterm premature rupture of membranes...
