Muḥammad Isḥāq (1933–2013) was one of the most popular Pakistani Islamic scholars during the last couple of decades. He was a polyglot and could read, write, and converse as easily in Arabic, Persian, and English, as he could in his native Urdu and Punjabi. An authority in the traditional islamic sciences of tafsir, hadith, and fiqh, his meteoric rise to fame occurred posthumously, after his lectures began circulating in online spheres. He was a caller to muslim unity and appealed directly to the masses after being rejected by the entrenched ulema class who rejected him out of hand.
