In his 58 years of leadership (1916–1974) in the Ethiopian Empire, first as Regent and then Emperor, Haile Selassie accumulated numerous honours and decorations both domestically and abroad. As a result of his numerous foreign visits, he was one of the most decorated personages in human history.[1] During his lifetime, he was recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as having been awarded the most decorations of any person.[2]
