Burao, also spelt Bur'o or Bur'ao[3] (Burr-OH; Somali: Burco, IPA: [Burˈʕo], Arabic: برعو), is the capital of the Togdheer region[4] and the second largest city in Somaliland.[5][6] Burao was the site of the declaration of an independent Somaliland on 18 May 1991.[7]
