Serving as the prefectural seat of Taizhou from 591 to 1993, it encompasses significant cultural landmarks such as the city walls of Taizhou Fu, the Jianshan Towers, Enze Hospital, Ziyang Street, and East Lake.[1] The city's fortifications were initially erected during the Eastern Jin dynasty (317–420) and have been reinforced over the years to provide protection against military assaults and flooding. Since 2006, the city walls of Taizhou Fu were placed on China's tentative list for World Heritage status.
