The Upper Volga (Verkhne-Volzhskaya) railway (Russian: Верхне-Волжская железная дорога) was a private railway in the upper Volga region of Russia, built in 1914–1918 and in the second half of the 1930s. It was planned as part of a backup route from St. Petersburg to Moscow. Today, the lines are part of the Moscow region of the October Railway.[1]
