Simon de Beaulieu (born at the Chateau de Beaulieu in Brie, at a date unknown; died in Orvieto, 18 August 1297) was a French bishop and Roman Catholic Cardinal. He was the son of Guy,[1] Sieur de Beaulieu and of Agnes.[2] Simon's brother, Jean, was Abbot of the Cistercian monastery of Notre Dame-de-Jouy in the diocese of Sens.[3] Simon had another brother, Raoul, who was also buried (1286) at Jouy along with their mother.[4]

  2. ^ Her memorial inscription of 1270 at Jouy states that she was of the nobility: Nobilibus nata, miseris pia, prole beata, Tota Deo grata. Roy, "Simon de Beaulieu", p. 31.

There is a monument to Cardinal Simon de Beaulieu at Jouy, which was evidently his intended burial place. Abbot Jean de Beaulieu was later Abbot of Ste. Colombe, diocese of Sens, from 1295 to 1317. Lognon, Obituaires de la province de Sens Tome I (Diocese de Sens) (Paris 1902), p. 18 (16 August): hic debet fieri sollempne anniversarium bone memorie Symonis, cardinalis, quondam fratris venerabilis in Christo patris Johannis de Bello-loco, abbatis ecclesie nostre. Gallia christiana XII (Paris 1770), p. 152.
