Reuven "Ruvi" Rivlin (Hebrew: רְאוּבֵן "רוּבִי" רִיבְלִין[ʁeʔuˈvenʁivˈlin]ⓘ; born 9 September 1939) is an Israeli politician and lawyer who served as the tenth president of Israel between 2014 and 2021. He is a member of the Likud party. Rivlin was Minister of Communications from 2001 to 2003, and subsequently served as Speaker of the Knesset from 2003 to 2006 and 2009 to 2013. On 10 June 2014, he was elected President of Israel.[1] His term ended on 7 July 2021.
Rivlin argues for a Greater Israel that would embrace all people and give the Palestinians of the West Bank and Gaza full Israeli citizenship.[2] He is also a strong supporter of minority rights, particularly for Arab Israelis.[3][4] He supports the one-state solution to the Israeli–Palestinian conflict.
