Qazi Nisar was the Mirwaiz of South Kashmir.[1] He was a founding member of the Muslim United Front (MUF) that contested the rigged 1987 Legislative Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, and Ummat e Islami.[2] He was a vocal advocate of freedom for Kashmiris.[3]
His son, Qazi Yasir, is also serving as the Mirwaiz of South Kashmir.
