Sir Mark Jeremy WalportFRS FRCP FRCPath FMedSci FRSE (born 25 January 1953[3]) is an English medical scientist and was the Government Chief Scientific Adviser in the United Kingdom from 2013 to 2017[5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12] and Chief Executive of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) from 2017[13] to 2020.[14] In 2023 he became the Foreign Secretary of The Royal Society (jointly with Alison Noble).[15]
