From 1965 to 1966, in the period in which Amintore Fanfani was president of the UN General Assembly he served in the United Nations Secretariat.
From 1967 to 1972 he was Italian Ambassador to Vietnam (Saigon).
In 1972 he became Director General of Emigration Social Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Italy).
In 1974 he was appointed general director of the Italo-Latin American Institute [it].[1]
