Armond Arabshahi, known by his stage name Unlike Pluto, is a Persian American singer, songwriter, record producer, and former DJ. [1] The name Unlike Pluto developed from nothing and has no real meaning; it is something that he just came up with and thought sounded cool, so he stuck with it. He is known for his Pluto Tapes series of volumes, a project he started as creative outlet where he challenges himself to release one song per week starting from May 2018.[2] In his words, "The Pluto Tapes started as an experiment for me to release more music - I wanted to see what it would be like to release a song every week. I start a new song idea every day. A lot of those don't even make the cut, but it gets my creativity flowing. The Pluto Tapes have now become my outlet to push my creative boundaries and challenge myself." He is also known for his massively, most popular song "Everything Black" who he produced with Mike Taylor's vocals. It has achieved Gold in Canada and recently in the US, and even plays in the popular multiplayer competitive car soccer game Rocket League. Besides his Unlike Pluto project, he has a side project called Why Mona, a name based off of his sister's name, Mona, with Hamilton singer and one of his best friend's, Joanna Jones. Together, they create covers of old school classics with her singing and his production.[3] His other side project is Like Saturn where he produces chill, Lofi style instrumentals for fun and from his love of the Lofi genre, and similar to the Pluto Tapes, he releases a new song every week.
