Modern railway signalling in Thailand on the mainline employs color light signals and computer-based interlocking.
The State Railway of Thailand is currently implementing centralized traffic control to link the whole country’s signalling system together using a fiber optic network.
This includes recent double-tracking projects for all mainlines extending from Bangkok.
Early double tracking projects used conventional interlocking systems (Bombardier INTERFLO 200),[1] but later projects are designed for an upgrade to ETCS Level 1, starting from the Red Line commuter project [2] and recent double tracking projects,.[3][4][5] However, in most rural areas, single track semaphore signals are still in use.
