National parks of Bhutan information


In Bhutan there are (as of June 2017) five national parks and 16 other nature reserves.[1] The protection of nature is under the supervision of the Department of Forests and Park Services of the Department of Agriculture. The protection of the environment and nature is considered to be one of the cornerstones of gross national happiness.[2] Nature reserves take up 48 percent of the kingdom's land area.[3]
