The Living Lakes is an international CSO-network program managed by the Global Nature Fund (GNF). The aim is to enhance the protection, restoration and rehabilitation of freshwater lakes and other wetlands worldwide.[1] Living Lakes organises knowledge and technology transfer between the network partners and beyond.
Partner projects in over 40 countries worldwide encompass innovative approaches like nature based solutions, pro biodiversity business, regenerative agriculture and other. All GNF partner projects follow a community based approach to foster and anchor restoration and protection activities with the people. The network seeks the partnership of decision makers in policy, communities and businesses to improve water quality and conserve biodiversity of these wetlands through sustainable use and development. The partners seek to ensure the reservoirs of drinking water. [2][3][4]
The Living Lakes network currently brings together more than 110 member lakes with about 125 partner organisations. Regional and national sub-networks of the Living Lakes exist in Canada, Latin America, East and Southern Africa, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Europe, Italy and Germany.
