The Chao Phraya (/ˌtʃaʊprəˈjɑː/[2] or /tʃaʊˈpraɪə/;[3] Thai: แม่น้ำเจ้าพระยา, RTGS: Maenam Chao Phraya, pronounced[mɛ̂ːnáːmtɕâːwpʰráʔ.jāː]ⓘ or [tɕâːwpʰrā.jāː])[4] is the major river in Thailand,[5] with its low alluvial plain forming the centre of the country. It flows through Bangkok and then into the Gulf of Thailand.
