Acri (Calabrian: Eacri) is a city of 19,949 inhabitants situated in the northern part of Calabria region in southern Italy. Acri was granted city status on 17 September 2001.[3]
The etymology of the word Acri derives from the Greek word 'ακρα' (Akra) which means peak.
