The Abbot Ice Shelf (72°45′S96°00′W / 72.750°S 96.000°W / -72.750; -96.000 (Abbot Ice Shelf)) is an ice shelf 250 nautical miles (460 km; 290 mi) long and 40 nautical miles (74 km; 46 mi) wide, bordering Eights Coast from Cape Waite to Pfrogner Point in Antarctica.
Thurston Island lies along the northern edge of the western half of this ice shelf; other sizable islands (Sherman Island, Carpenter Island, Dustin Island, Johnson Island, McNamara Island, Farwell Island and Dendtler Island) lie partly or wholly within this shelf.[1]
