Yossi Dagan (Hebrew: יוסי דגן) is an Israeli activist and politician who has been the head of the Shomron Regional Council since August 2015.

Dagan grew up in the Israeli towns of Bnei Brak and Pardes Katz. When he was in the tenth grade, he moved with his parents and siblings to Shavei Shomron. Dagan was a counselor in the Bnei Akiva youth movement, and later joined the youth division of the Moledet party, of which he eventually became the leader. In this function, he enjoyed a close personal relationship with the party's leader, Rehavam Ze'evi. Dagan is a graduate of the first class of the Darkei Noam Yeshiva, and then continued his studies at the Shavei Shomron Yeshiva and Yeshivat Nir in Kiryat Arba.

Dagan is a leader of Homesh First, a grassroots organization dedicated to re-settling and re-building Homesh.[1] Homesh First was formed after the homes of the Jewish residents of Homesh were razed and the Jewish community was evicted as part of Israel's disengagement in August 2005.[2] Dagan himself was a resident of Sanur, which was also demolished and evacuated as part of the 2005 disengagement plan.[3] He is married, and father to four small children. He lives in Shavei Shomron, an Israeli settlement in the northern West Bank. He has a bachelor's degree in law from the Ono Academic College and a master's degree in law from Bar-Ilan University, and is an accredited mediator.[citation needed]

He served as an officer in the Israel Defense Forces, where he holds the rank of captain in the reserve forces.[3]

In August 2015, Dagan was elected as Head of the Shomron Regional Council, replacing Gershon Mesika, who resigned from his post following a corruption scandal in the Yisrael Beiteinu political party.[4] He received the support of 63% of the voters in general elections that were held for the Shomron Regional Municipal government on Aug. 6, 2015.[5]

In June 2023, a Palestinian Authority policeman was arrested at Tulkarm Camp with charges of a connection to an assassination plot against Dagan. The man had been located after a four-month manhunt, and had previously hidden in a police station in Jericho.[6]
