Vesna Zmijanac (Serbian Cyrillic: Весна Змијанац, pronounced[ʋêsnazmijǎːnats]; born 4 January 1957) is a Montenegrin-born Serbian singer and actress. Dubbed the "Queen of Sadness" (Kraljica tuge), she is known for her emotional vocal delivery and melancholic ballads. Zmijanac rose to prominence in the early 1980s and has since released fourteen studio albums. She is one of the commercially most successful Serbian folk singers from the former Yugoslavia, having sold around 6.7 million records.[1] Furthermore, Zmijanac has also maintained popularity in the neighboring countries like Bulgaria.[2][3]
Additionally, she starred in the 1981 movie Sok od šljiva and competed on the reality television shows Survivor Srbija VIP: Philippines (2010) and Farma (2016).
Zmijanac is the mother of singer and rapper Nikolija Jovanović.
