Tamtert (Arabic: تامترت), also written Tamert[2] or Tamatart[3] is a town and commune in Béni Abbès District, Béchar Province, in western Algeria. According to the 2008 census its population is 1,248,[2] down from 1,302 in 1998,[4] with an annual growth rate of -0.4%.[2] The commune covers an area of 3,130 square kilometres (1,210 sq mi).[1]
