Storm de Hirsch (1912–2000) was an American poet and filmmaker. She was a key figure in the New York avant-garde film scene of the 1960s, and one of the founding members of the Film-Makers' Cooperative. Although often overlooked by historians, in recent years she has been recognized as a pioneer of underground cinema.[1][2][3]

  3. ^ Starr, Cecile. "Storm de Hirsch". filmdirectorssite.com. Archived from the original on 2 November 2014. Retrieved 1 November 2014. Storm De Hirsch was an extremely talented filmmaker of her time....It is a sad footnote to those times that although P. Adams Sitney played a major role in one of her major films (The Tattooed Man, 1968), Sitney's seminal book on American avant-garde cinema (Visionary Films, 1974) does not even mention her name.
