In Roman mythology and religion, Quirinus (/kwɪˈraɪnəs/kwi-RY-nəs,[2]Latin:[kᶣɪˈriːnʊs]) is an early god of the Roman state. In Augustan Rome, Quirinus was also an epithet of Janus, as Janus Quirinus.[3]
