The Purdue University Northwest seal was formally adopted from the Purdue West Lafayette seal in 2016. The seal features the university's name written in an arc around a griffin, the symbol of strength in medieval heraldry. The three-part shield indicates the three stated aims of the university – education, research and service.

Purdue University Northwest (PNW) is a public university with two campuses in Northwest Indiana; its main campus is in Hammond with a branch campus[2] in Westville. It is part of the Purdue University system and offers more than 70 undergraduate and graduate degree programs to approximately 6,200 students with more than 64,000 alumni.
