Overview of the legality and practice of prostitution in Namibia
Prostitution in Namibia is legal[1][2][3] and a highly prevalent common practice.[3] Related activities such as solicitation, procuring and being involved in the running of a brothel are illegal.[1] A World Bank study estimated there were about 11,000 prostitutes in Namibia.[4]
Human trafficking,[5] child prostitution[5] and HIV/AIDS[4] remain serious issues in the country.
