Oreocereus is a genus of cacti (family Cactaceae), known only from high altitudes of the Andes.
Its name means "mountain cereus", formed from the Greek prefix oreo- (ὀρεο-, mountain)[2] and the Neo-Latin cereus, meaning wax or torch.
