Illustration of Nesace for "Al Aaraaf" by W. Heath Robinson

Nesace (/nˈsɑːki/,[1][2] Italian pronunciation: [neˈzaːtʃe];[3] from Greek Νησάκη, Nēsakē 'small island') is one of the more prominent characters featured in Edgar Allan Poe's early epic poem Al Aaraaf, which came out in 1829 in the poetry anthology Al Aaraaf, Tamerlane and Minor Poems. Together with Tamerlane, Al Aaraaf is Poe's most extensive poem. It received mostly negative reviews for its complexity, obscure references, and odd structure.
