Nakhon Phanom province (Thai: นครพนม, pronounced[ná(ʔ).kʰɔ̄ːnpʰā.nōm], lit.'Mountain City') is one of Thailand's seventy-six provinces (changwat) lies in upper northeastern Thailand also called Isan. Directly adjacent provinces are (from south clockwise): Mukdahan, Sakon Nakhon, and Bueng Kan. To the northeast it borders Khammouan of Laos.
