msmtp is an SMTP client.[5][6] It is free software, published under the GPLv3.[4] msmtp is packaged by major Linux distributions[7] and by FreeBSD.[5] It can also be found bundled in Android applications.[8]
msmtp is able to utilise email account passwords stored in Keychain on OS X,[6] or in GNOME Keyring on computers using the GNOME desktop.[9]
msmtp can be used in conjunction with OfflineIMAP.[10] This allows the user to read email and draft replies offline,[10] and to use msmtp to send the replies when back online.[11]
