Selected in the sixth round of the 1989 NFL draft, he played eight seasons for the New York Jets of which he was a starter for six. He additionally played for the Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers, accumulating a total of 40.5 sacks in 155 games played during his career. Washington played both basketball and football at the University of Idaho.
