Madikeri is a hill station town in Madikeri taluk and headquarters of Kodagu district in Karnataka, India.
Its original name was Muddurajanakeri which means "the city of Mudduraja".
It is recognised as one of the world's eight "hottest hotspots" of biological diversity and also one of UNSECO World Heritage Sites.[2]
