List of unorganized territories in Maine information
The unorganized territory (UT) of Maine is the area of Maine that has no local, incorporated municipal government. The unorganized territory consists of 435 townships, primarily heavily forested areas of the state's north, east, and west, along with de-organized municipalities and islands. The UT land area is slightly over one half the area of the entire State of Maine. Year round residents number approximately 9,000, with many more people seasonally residing in the UT.[1][2][3][4]
