The following is a calendar of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) events. While the primary focus is on gay pride parades, the calendar also embraces a spectrum of events, ranging from sporting events to film festivals, including celebrations such as Christopher Street Day. These events transcend geographical boundaries and reflect the enduring impact of the Stonewall riots in Greenwich Village. Originating in June 1969, these riots marked a pivotal moment in queer history, shaping diverse social movements and catalyzing the establishment of Pride parades on a global scale.[1]
The significance of these events is further emphasized by their varying sizes, exemplifying the diversity within the global LGBT community. From the grandeur of São Paulo's Pride parade, attracting 5 million participants, to the intimate gathering in Sligo, Ireland, with 100 participants, each event symbolizes a unique expression of solidarity, empowerment, and inclusivity within the broader context of the LGBT movement.
This list has at least two common purposes: Tourists may use it to plan their trips, and event planners may use it to find appropriate dates for their events.
Criteria for inclusion on this list are:
Active: The event is currently active. Discontinued events are excluded.
Established: It has occurred two or more times. Events that have happened only once are excluded.
LGBT: It is primarily focused on one or more of the LGBT communities.
Notable: It is well attended, has existed for a long time, or is notable in some other way.
Yearly: It recurs yearly or less often (e.g. quadrennially).
