There are 21 Interstate Highways—8 primary and 13 auxiliary—that exist entirely or partially in the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of January 2020[update], the state had a total of 1,410 miles (2,270 km) of Interstates and 70 miles (110 km) of Interstate business routes, all maintained by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT).[1][2]
