Krishna Istha (born 1993/1994)[1] is a comedian, writer, and performance artist based in London.[1][2]

Istha, who is of Indian descent, is originally from Bangalore.[1][3]

In 2019, Istha performed their first solo show, Beast, which explored their experience of being transmasculine.[3][4]

In 2020, Istha was awarded a bursary from Artsadmin to support their artistic work.[4][5]

Istha wrote for season 4 of the Netflix series Sex Education, which was released in 2023.[6]

In 2023, Istha won a grant from Arts Council England to produce their show, First Trimester.[7] In the performance piece, Istha, who wishes to have a baby with their partner, conducted live interviews with potential sperm donors.[8] Istha was also awarded a Netflix Documentary Talent Fund to produce a short documentary about the show.[2]

In March 2024, Istha appeared in a Netflix comedy special, Gender Agenda, hosted by Hannah Gadsby and also featuring fellow genderqueer comedians Alok, Chloe Petts, DeAnne Smith, Jes Tom, Asha Ward, and Mx. Dahlia Belle.[9]

Istha is non-binary and transmasculine,[10] and goes by they/them pronouns.[11]
