Jumana El Husseini information


Jumana El-Husseini, (2 April 1932 – 11 April 2018) was a Palestinian painter and sculptor born in Jerusalem, who later lived in Paris.[1][2] She won many medals and has an extensive international exhibition record.[3] Jumana El-Husseini died in her home in Paris on 11 April 2018 at the age of 86.[4][5]

She studied painting, sculpture and ceramics in Beirut and Paris.[6] Noted for figurative paintings of Palestinian women[7] and geometric[8] houses in Jerusalem and Jericho,[9] her style evolved from realistic to geometric and, since 1987,[10] to abstract,[11] with wavelike overpainted[12] drawings evoking Arabic calligraphy.[11][13][14]
