Joseph Humphries Barquet (September 10, 1823 - March 14, 1880) was a Union soldier in the 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment and a civil rights activist. Born in a wealthy family in Charleston of mexed European and African descent, he lived most of his life in Illinois as a mason. He gave many speeches and wrote newspaper articles in support of various causes which were important to the Black communities of Galesburg, Illinois as a whole, and the U.S. military.
