Jan Breydel (Dutch pronunciation:[jɑmˈbrɛidəl]; c. 1264 – between 1328 and 1333)[1] is credited with leading the Bruges Matins (Brugse Metten), a violent uprising against Philip the Fair.[2] He is said to have played a major role in the Franco-Flemish War, even though his authenticity has since been questioned.[3]
