Itameshi (Japanese: イタ飯) is a type of fusion cuisine originally from Japan that combines traditional elements of Japanese food and Italian food. The name comes from the combination of the Japanese name for Italy (Japanese: イタリア) and the Japanese word for meal (Japanese: 飯).[1] This term is often used to differentiate Italian food and the Japanese-Italian fusion food with Italian food being formally referred to as (Japanese: イタリア料理).[1]
