Hafdar Rural District (Persian: دهستان هفدر) is in Hafdar District of Sorkheh County, Semnan province, Iran.[3] Its capital is the village of Aftar.[4]

At the National Census of 2006, its population (as a part of the former Sorkheh District of Semnan County) was 2,997 in 816 households.[5] There were 2,985 inhabitants in 895 households at the following census of 2011.[6] At the most recent census of 2016, the population of the rural district was 3,599 in 1,202 households, by which time the district had been separated from the county in the establishment of Sorkheh County.[3] The most populous of its 48 villages was Mowmenabad, with 1,796 people.[2]

After the census, the rural district was separated from the Central District to establish Hafdar District, with two rural districts and no cities. At the same time, Emamzadeh Abdollah Rural District was established in the Central District.[3]
