This article is about the European grass snake or ringed snake, Natrix natrix. "Grass snake" is also used in the United Kingdom to refer to the barred grass snake (N. helvetica) and in North America to refer to the smooth green snake (Opheodrys vernalis) and the rough green snake (O. aestivus).
