Founded in 1981, the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy[3] is a nonprofit cooperating association that supports park stewardship and conservation in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area—the most visited national park in the U.S.[4]
Recognized as one of the largest park partners in the country,[5] the Parks Conservancy has provided nearly $300 million[6] in aid to support San Francisco Bay Area parks including the Presidio of San Francisco, Crissy Field, Muir Woods National Monument, Lands End, and Alcatraz Island. The organization has received a Three-Star Charity rating from Charity Navigator.[7]
