Eliza Anne Fraser (c. 1798 – 1858) was an English woman known for being shipwrecked at K'gari, an island off the coast of Queensland, Australia, on 22 May 1836, and was kidnapped and enslaved by the Badtjala (Butchella) people. She later wrote of her experience and claimed to have been captured and enslaved by Aboriginal people; the island was named "Fraser Island”, after her husband Captain James Fraser.[1][2] It was renamed to its traditional name of K’gari in June 2023.[3][4]
