Douglas Stanley information

Douglas Stanley (7 April 1890[1][note 1] – 19 April 1958) was a vocal pedagogue and scientist. Best known as the voice teacher of Nelson Eddy and Cornelius Reid, he was at the forefront of the field of voice science, pioneering instruments, methodologies, and techniques of standardization in researching and measuring vocal acoustics, use, and behaviors—especially in the act of singing. Although Stanley's autobiography makes much of singing lessons when he was 16 with Immanuel [sic] Garcia, Manuel Garcia was actually long-retired and aged 101 at the time: Stanley could have had only the briefest contact — if any at all — with the great man before Garcia's death, which was barely 3 months after Stanley's 16th birthday.
