Deathbird (Cal'syee Neramani) is a character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics.[1] Created by Chris Claremont and Keith Pollard, the character first appeared in Ms. Marvel #9 (September 1977). Cal'syee Neraman is part of a segment of the extraterrestrial Shi'ar race with a mutation.[2]
Deathbird was born into the noble family of the Shi'ar Empire.[3] She is the banished sister of the Shi'ar empress Lilandra Neramani.[4] Deathbird seeks to overthrow her sister to gain access to the throne.[5] She is a recurring antagonist of the superhero Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel.[6]
