Daylight saving time in Turkey was implemented throughout the country in the periods of 1940–1952, 1962–1965, 1973–1978, and 1985–2016. In 2016, Turkey scrapped winter time, by permanently staying in UTC+03:00 daylight saving time zone after 8 September.[1]
Whether daylight saving time is beneficial or not was a controversial issue. In this regard, the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources had published various surveys and articles in order to make the subject known to the broader public and to form an opinion.[2] With the decision of the Cabinet convened in 2013, the practice was terminated with the decision to turn the clocks back one hour on 27 October 2013.
