Guerrero was roundly criticized for many of his hiring decisions, particularly in football and men's basketball.
Guerrero began his career with California State University, Dominguez Hills, before moving to University of California, Irvine. He retired from his position as athletic director of UCLA in June 2020, after his contract expired, citing his health and a desire to spend more time with his family.[2]
