Baron Ritchie of Dundee, of Welders in the Parish of Chalfont St Giles in the County of Buckingham, is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom.[1] It was created in 1905 for the Conservative politician Charles Ritchie. He was Home Secretary between 1900 and 1902 and Chancellor of the Exchequer between 1902 and 1903.
He was succeeded by his second but only surviving son, the second Baron. He was Chairman of the Port of London Authority from 1925 to 1941. His son, the third Baron, served as Chairman of the London Stock Exchange from 1959 to 1965 and was admitted to the Privy Council in 1965. When he died the title passed to his younger brother, the fourth Baron, who in his turn was succeeded by his younger brother, the fifth Baron. As of 2010[update] the title is held by the latter's only son, the sixth Baron, who succeeded in 2008.
Another member of the Ritchie family was Sir James Thomson Ritchie, 1st Baronet, Lord Mayor of London from 1903 to 1904. He was the elder brother of the first Baron Ritchie of Dundee.
