The Barbados Yacht Club was established in 1924 with a primary focus of promoting sailing on the island of Barbados.[2] In 1932 it was granted a Royal Warrant by King George V to become the Royal Barbados Yacht Club.[3]
In 1967 it lost the use of the Royal honorific and reverted to the Barbados Yacht Club shortly after Barbados gained independence from Great Britain in 1966.
