Azov (Russian: Азов, IPA: [ɐˈzof] ), previously known as Azak (Turki/Kypchak: ازاق‎),[9] is a town in Rostov Oblast, Russia, situated on the Don River just 16 kilometers (9.9 mi) from the Sea of Azov, which derives its name from the town. Population: 81,924 (2021 Census);[10] 82,937 (2010 Russian census);[3] 82,090 (2002 Census);[11] 80,297 (1989 Soviet census).[12]
